Daryl Douglas advises his healthcare clients about their U.S. medical malpractice litigation exposures. He assists clients in litigation strategy, evaluation, operations and processes, and has resolved dozens of multimillion dollar cases for his clients nationwide, before and after verdict.
Before joining Wagstaff & Cartmell, Daryl worked with the Kansas City law firms of Shook, Hardy & Bacon and then Blackwell, Sanders (now Husch, Blackwell), where he focused his practice in the areas of products liability, medical malpractice, and personal injury defense. While in private practice, Daryl tried cases in Missouri and Kansas state courts on behalf of insureds, physicians, and hospitals, and successfully argued appeals in Missouri State and Federal courts.
From 1996 until 2010, when he joined Wagstaff & Cartmell, Daryl was a Senior Vice President at Employers Reinsurance Corporation (ERC), which was acquired by Swiss Re in 2006. During that time, he led a team of claim attorneys and professionals handling primary and excess hospital and physician medical malpractice claims in collaboration with insured and reinsured clients nationwide.
Daryl is a member of the Missouri Bar and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, and has obtained the C.P.C.U. designation. He has been a frequent speaker at various healthcare industry events and continuing legal education seminars on topics including proper management and evaluation of catastrophic cases, large loss drivers, and jury trends.
