Luke Callahan joined the firm as a summer associate and as an attorney in 2015. His practice focuses on mass tort litigation, representing plaintiffs nationwide who have been injured by pharmaceutical drugs and medical devices. Luke also counsels clients and litigates cases involving construction and business disputes.

Luke was recognized as a 2019 Missouri & Kansas Rising Star in the area of Personal Injury – Products Liability. He holds a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri and received a Juris Doctor from UMKC – School of Law.

His experience includes:

• Worked on a small team of lawyers in the investigation of a medical device called a power morcellator. The device was used to laparoscopically remove uterine fibroids in women. Unfortunately, during the laparoscopic morcellator procedure the device can spread hidden, deadly cancer called leiomyosarcoma throughout the woman’s abdomen and body. Manufacturers of the device quickly resolved the litigation after several plaintiffs filed suit.

• Assisted in the depositions of numerous corporate executive witnesses who were involved in the design and marketing of metal-on-metal hips. The cases involve prosthetic hip implants that failed and led to injuries and revision surgeries in thousands of patients nationwide.

• Represented governmental entities and individuals in lawsuits against the makers of prescription opioids. Luke reviewed evidence produced by opioid manufacturers and participated in the depositions of the manufacturers’ opioid sales representatives.
